For many, I'm sure.  They had actually asked if they could attend.  But TCG
would allow only three Lab directors in.  Of course this is more than just
a metaphor.  If three from this convoy of directors find a career working
in TCG theaters, it would be a minor miracle. 

I think your points on community are right.  But it's the chasm between the
theater community and the actual community that interests me most as a
director.   For instance, the 2000 Census of Philadelphia County shows the
African American population to be 43 per cent.  How many members of the
nominating committee for the Philadelphia's Barrymore Awards for Excellence
in Theatre are people of color?  Take a guess.
