The "dominant" culture is basically the capitalist culture. One reason shows
like CATS do so well is that regular people can't afford ticket prices.
Broadway today largely exists for NY businesses that take out-of-town guests
to the theatre, and the most important feature of a show being used for
client entertainment is that it NOT OFFEND.
