While the II. European Youth Festival is Starting!

The European Youth Festival, organized for the first
time last year on 11-17 December 1999 in Ankara, has
met with 20.000 young people!

This year, the Second European Youth Festival will be
organized on 02-08 December 2000 again in Ankara and
will bring Music, Dance and Theatre groups from 10
different countries, France, UK, Italy, Spain,
Portugal, Malta, Jordan, Croatia and Greece, besides
Turkey. In addition to the performances, Info-Fair,
Short Film Screening, Exhibition and Workshops will be
organized for your participation under the frame of the
festival and each of them has its own festival color
and richness.

The concept of our festival is to enable the young
people to meet with their own genuine creativity; in
other words with their own dreams and excitements.
Moreover, the main goal of the European Youth Festival
is to bring the youth organizations from Turkey and the
other European countries together and enable them to
know each other better in terms of their cultural,
artistic and social values as well as helping them to
establish new cooperation for the future among
themselves.

All the activities, such as Info-Fair, Short Film
Screening, Exhibition and Workshops that will be
organized under the frame of the festival are free of
charge. On the other hand, we have to provide a little
part of the hall, sound and light systems with your
financial support. This financial support that we
expect from you is only One Million Turkish Liras for
every show. Unfortunately, the support we could get
only from our sponsors was not enough to cover all the
expenses of the festival.

The European Youth Festival is still a young festival.
We will take care to keep it always young. The new
participations and our increasing number of festival
friends are encouraging us in our efforts to make the
festival a long-living one. For example, Gençev (Youth
Culture House Association), which has newly taken part
in the organization of the festival is a new
association founded during the period of festival by
the GSM staff, the members of the festival committee,
volunteers and friends all together. Apart from the
festival, Gençev has other dreams and plans for the
future. GSM-Youth Services Center is going on its way
for 15 years with the participation of new friends and
with enthusiasm.
