Boston Theatre Works ... 

... is requesting script submissions for BTW UNBOUND, their annual
new works festival to be held in April of 2001. They are continually
seeking work "which we feel dives to the heart of our mission :
Unbound by convention, driven toward discovery, and engaging new
audiences." Both full-length & one-acts will be considered. Email
submissions are not accepted & there is a reading fee of $10.00.
Deadline - January 16, 2001

... announces Sketchbook ONE, Chicago's premiere, ultra short-
progressive plays festival. Seeking deftly written, character driven
plays no longer than 8 minutes AND no longer than 8 pages in length.
Festival participants will have their plays seen by thousands, and
judges from Chicago's distinguished arts and literary community
will be presenting several handsome prizes to the best of the fest

Turnip Theatre Company ...

... in association with American Globe Theatre is now accepting
submissions for the 7th Annual New York City 15-Minute Play Festival .
The Festival will be presented at American Globe's 75 seat theatre
on West 46th Street in the heart of Times Square April 17 - 28, 2001.

Approximately three dozen original short plays are selected from
among submissions from all over the United States and as far as North
Africa and Europe. Four to five plays are presented each of the first
eight evening of the semi-finals with one play chosen each night to
move on to the finals and an additional three performances. Finalists
then compete for $100 cash prizes for Best Play, Best Direction, Best
Performance, and Audience Favorite. Finalists are also eligible for
The Alan Minieri Memorial Playwriting Award in honor of the company's
former Co-Artistic Director who died of cancer in 1997. The $300
Minieri Award is presented to a playwright whose work challenges
convention in both content and form. Deadline December 15, 2000

The Southwest Theatre Association (S.W.T.A.)...

... announces its 2001 National New Play Contest for original
one-act or full-length plays that have not previously been fully
produced or published. Musicals, translations or adaptations of
previously produced or published works, and plays for young audiences
are not eligible (although they offer a separate contest for plays
for young audiences through their Children's Theatre Division).
Writers must reside in the U.S.A and the deadline is March 15, 2001.

Prop Thtr's New Play 2001, Chicago ...

... will be selecting ten plays by adult playwrights and two to
five plays by young adults between the ages of 12 and 19 years of
age. All plays chosen will receive staged readings followed by
discussion with the audience. Playwrights will have the services
of a dramaturg and a director. Those selected will receive a
stipend of up to $800.00 and out of town authors will also receive
travel and housing expenses.

The Long Island City Arts Project ...

... is accepting submissions of short works: one-act plays,
performance pieces and monologues for SpringFest 2001, produced
as part of LIC Art Frenzy, a three-day arts festival sponsored
by The Queens Arts Council & The Long Island City Business
Development Corporation. Works submitted must be complete short
pieces or an excerpt of a longer work that can stand alone. Only
one submission per person. Deadline: Monday, January 8th, 2001.
