Re: RAT Fwd: CALL FOR DIRECTORS, ACTORS, DRAMATURGS

for what it may or may not be worth, i've worked in
this project three times--twice as a playwright and
once as a director. athe is an educational theate
organization--college/university level--and may not be
quite the work environment or network environment some
of you may be seeking, but then again may be exactly
what you want--depending on what you're about as a
person and artist.

as for the 8-12 hours that set some of you agog, well,
it's not always that much. rehearsals are
grab-'em-as-you-can, more often in someone's hotel
room than in a space where you can actually put
something on its feet (and these are staged readings),
and have to happen around everyone's schedules, which
is a complex undertaking at a three-day conference.
the project is a great deal of fun, with a wide range
of levels in the plays--this year the plays were
pretty good; last year, there were a number that were
very fine. if any of you want to get involved, then
do so with these caveats in mind: everybody's busy,
there's little time, and teams are assigned--which
means you may be lucky or not with the collaborators,
the play, etc. those of us who do this are mostly
educators who don't get enough time in new play
development contexts in our regular gigs. we'd love
to have some new blood involved--athe is trying to
incorporate more professionals, and certainly can use
more perspectives.

anyway, if anyone wants more information, you have my
e-mail address.
