The Train Station is an on-going series of workshops that draw on
traditional and innovative theatrical forms of performance training in order
to provide a daily physical regiment of training for the performer.

All classes will be held from 9am - 11am
Exit Stage Left Theatre

CLASS SCHEDULE:

MOTION AND REST
Thursday 9/7, Friday 9/8, Monday 9/11.
This workshop entails various physical exercises, based on Tadashi Suzuki's
Actor Training Method, that perpetuate a constant awareness of the body and
mind in its struggle to find the balance between tension and release. Led by
Michelle Talgarow, Managing Director of The Train Station, this class will
engage the body to develop a focus and discipline that is all-encompasing.
Please bring an extra pair of socks or Japanese tabi.

DEVELOPING THE ACTOR'S THIRD EYE
Saturday 9/9, Sunday 9/10.
Through physical exercises designed to strengthen the actor's self-awareness
in space and as an individual within an ensemble, this class will help
sharpen your "third eye," enhancing theatrical expressivity and helping to
make sure the audience sees what you intend for them to see. A physical
workout as well as an exploration of techniques for creating expressive
performance, these sessions will be led by Mark Jackson, Artistic Director
of Art Street Theatre. Please wear clothes appropriate for movement and be
prepared to work both barefoot and in light soled shoes or sneakers.

THEATRICAL BIOMECHANICS
Tuesday 9/12, Wednesday 9/13, Thursday 9/14, Friday 9/15.
Through the actor training program developed by the Russian Theatre
Director, Vsevolod Meyerhold, this highly physical workout will focus on the
development of the body as a fully expressive instrument using rhythm,
tumbling, partner acrobatics, object work, Biomechanical etudes and physical
compositions. Sessions led by Gillian Chadsey, Artistic Director of The
Train Station. Please wear light soled shoes or sneakers, long pants, and no
tank tops.

FROM THE CENTER THROUGH BREATH TO THE MIND
Saturday 9/16, Sunday 9/17.
Using "centering" as a point of departure in the design of the creative
performance act, we will create scores of action through the dramaturgies of
balance and breath. A vigorous exploration of balance, breath, and how each
may be applied to the performer's creative process, these sessions will be
led by Micheal Stubblefield, local actor and Train Station Advisory Board
Member. Please wear clothes appropriate for movement.

See you at the Fringe!
