RAT Moving Arts Playreading 7/18

Hi RATs,

On Tuesday, July 18 at 8pm, Moving Arts is presenting a reading of MESA
ROJA, a play by Mark L. Williams. The reading is directed by Julie Briggs
and features Gil Ellis, Catherine Holliday, Mary Langford, Stu Levin, Gary
Marschall, Kevin McCorkle, Brian Newkirk, James Smith, and Lori Yeghiayan.

Love is risky enough. What happens when love is a tactic? It's precisely
the tactic used by the FBI when it decides to infiltrate a "dangerous"
environmental group. MEGAN FOLDS is a thirtyish single mother who tends
bar in her small town. It's there that she meets TOM HILL, an emotionally
hobbled Vietnam vet who has apparently come to the desert seeking a second
chance at life. But neither Tom nor Megan are what they appear to be, and
Tom eventually reveals his "true" purpose: to get involved with the
Megan's environmental activist group -- connected to a larger national
movement called "Green Fire" -- which seeks to stop the construction of a
radioactive waste dump on a piece of desert wilderness known as Mesa Roja.
As the masks peel away, Tom heads toward his ultimate betrayal of Megan.
But as he does, he learns that "infiltration" works both ways.
The play is based on true events that occurred in the American Southwest in
the late 1980's.

The reading will be held at Moving Arts' mainstage at the Los Angeles
Theatre Center, Theatre 5C, 514 South Spring St. in downtown Los Angeles.
There is ample parking in the gated lot at 6th and Main.

Admission is free. A discussion will follow the reading.

Please call for reservations: (213) 622-8906, Box 4 (Literary Dept.)

We hope to see you there!

Trey
