FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Email text collaboration by 12 playwrights being read on 5 June@
8pm local time in 7 cities across the country- effort spearheaded
by Theatre Double, Philadelphia.

1 June PHILADELPHIA ---
Theatre Double's reading series, UNDERGROUND VOICES, is excited to
announce its latest reading, STATIONS OF DESIRE, to be held at the
theatre, 1619 Walnut Street , on Monday 5 June 2000 at 8 pm.

STATIONS is a unique piece. An email text collaboration conceived
and edited by Caridad Svich, the work was written by 12 outstanding
"underheard" American playwrights, with the title as a common theme.
The Playwrights involved are Neena Beber, Cusi Cram, Jose Ignacio
Cortinas, Heather Dundas, Julie Hebert, Julie Jensen, Ruth Margraff,
Rachelle Minkoff, Anne Garcia Romero, Caridad Svich, Candido Tirado
and Elizabeth Wong.

When the curator of UNDERGROUND VOICES , Brad Rothbart, read the
piece and decided to include it in his reading series , he felt
that because the piece was written on email, which is in fact
nowhere and everywhere at the same time- and because the work is
called STATIONS OF DESIRE which implies movement, he came up with
the idea the idea of having the work read in many cities across the
country on the same night at the same local time. So far, in addition
to being done at Theatre Double, other participating theatres
include New Georges in NYC, CollaborAction in Chicago, Core
Performance Manufactory/ Rm. 120 in Dallas, ReaLive Productions in
Denver, Theatre In My Basement in Minneapolis, and Perishable
Theatre in Providence.

The companies participating in this multi-space reading will keep in
contact using ICQ, a popular, computer-based instant messaging system.
