One more note of historical accuracy: any actor, writer, director who
named names to HUAC did more than lose some friends. He jeopardized the
careers of everybody whom he named. He sent some of them who refused
themselves to name names to jail. (I'd say he/she but I don't know any
women who named names. Probably there were some.)

Scabs also jeopardize others' careers by opting for individual choice
rather than community solidarity. The recurring theme in this discussion
thread of personal value and moral choices and the need to honor
individual action trouble me because I sure see evil choices around
there and I know I have the capacity to choose what is wrong. I look to
the community for assistance.

Scabbing, by my book, is wrong. So is participating in witch hunts. But
they are different. I don't think mixing them helps us figure out
whether it is useful or moral to name scabs' names. I myself think it is
not wrong to name scabs' names. They acted publicly. Their faces in this
case will appear around the world. They are doing something shameful; so
say so.

On another note, I went looking for plane fares to Yugoslavia. I found
low rates through United and on Air Italia.
