Wally (and everyone else):

This particular retreat is happening May 5-7.  Our
needs are writers on Saturday (May 6) from 11am to
6pm, who will be paired with a young person.  The
adult will act as dramaturg, seeing the child through
the process of writing a 10-minute play.  (The kids
have already spent the past 8 weeks learning the tools
necessary, ie plot, conflict, dialogue, character
development.)  On Sunday, actors are needed from 10am
to 4pm, to work with the young playwright to stage the
play, clarifying stage direction, etc.

There's a small honorarium offered to participants,
$25 per day.  We can also offer a place to stay,
either at the retreat house or in a local motel.

The children are all 10 years old.  The most amazing
thing about this time in a child's life is that they
are on the threshold of losing their imagination to
self-consciousness and the overwhelming impacts of
peer pressure.  These children are able to play,
imagine and create the way us grown-ups only wich we
could.  The experience is unlike anything previously
experienced for both the children and the volunteers.
