>Printer's Devil Theatre announces project line-up for the 5th Bonanza
>
>Seattle: Today, Printer's Devil Theatre announced the project line-up for
>the 5th BONANZA, the company's annual workshop of 12 projects-in-process
>presented in 12 weeks. In 2000, the company has added a two-phase rehearsal
>process and a community discussion series (The Bonanza Talks) to the
>BONANZA
>in order to give more support to the work and the artists involved in the
>project. This year's BONANZA will be presented at Seattle's new
>contemporary
>arts center Consolidated Works, beginning March 6, 2000 and closing May 23,
>2000. The BONANZA is supported in part with funding from King County Arts
>Commission.
>"The 2000 Bonanza is a good mixture of old and new," said co-Artistic
>Director Kip Fagan. "While we continue to work toward our original goals
>in
>starting the Bonanza - such as developing relationships with the most vital
>playwrights in Seattle and around the country - we are also implementing
>new
>programs that will keep the Bonanza a fertile environment for new work."
>Co-Artistic Director Paul Willis said, "Programs like The Bonanza Talks
>will
>begin to bridge the growing gap between theatre artists and the
>community-at-large." Willis added, "And a longer, more structured rehearsal
>schedule will continue to remove the obstacles standing between a
>playwright's idea and its potential."
>
>What the Artists Say:
>"This'll be my fourth year in the Bonanza-my fourth jumpstart-no, it's a
>gentler process, more like water-birth, a safe warm place to deliver a
>play.
>The Bonanza doesn't expect a closed fontanelle, which is very liberating,
>very conducive to good work." - Lawrence Krauser, playwright
>
>"The Bonanza has been a place for me to experiment with writing and making
>plays in whatever crazy way I choose. There is the freedom to give the work
>exactly what it needs." - Heidi Schreck, Printer's Devil company member,
>playwright and actor
>
>"If I were trapped on a desert island with only one theatrical event, it
>would be Printer's Devil's Play Bonanza. For both the audience and the
>writer there is no better series highlighting new work in Seattle." - Scot
>Augustson, playwright
