My posting wasn't necessarily about posting blame... one might argue that it
is in fact the wrong space for the production. That may be the producer's
fault.
My posting was not about supporting the producer. Rather, it was in support
of a very grassroots, community-based ensemble who is extremely talented and
work incredibly hard who are having a difficult time in their given situation.
I think any of us can put ourselves in a similar situation - if a producer
came to a small group of artists who have been playing small venues across
the country for a number of years, and said "Hey! This show rocks! We're
taking you to Broadway!" - wouldn't most of our knee-jerk reactions be to say
yes?
Your point about the space is incredibly well-taken... that being said, the
show is definitely worth supporting, in terms of the performances given by
the ensemble, and in terms of supporting a new form of performance as an
alternative to the "norm" on Broadway.
