RAT SAG/AFTRA 2000 STRIKE AUTHORIZATION

Hey all,
Forgive the form letter. It's just so much easier.

If you're a member of the Screen Actors' Guild (SAG) or the American
Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) then you already know
how pitiful (and unfair) the current cable commercial contracts are. Our
Board has gathered in NYC to continue talks with the Joint Policy
committee of the American Association of Advertising Agencies and the
Association of National Advertisers for a new three-year contract
covering television and radio commercials.

I'm writing you to urge you to vote YES on your strike authorization
ballot. This will authorize the Boards to call a strike of television and
radio commercials if they see fit. It's a HUGE bargaining chip at the
table.

The following areas WOULD NOT BE AFFECTED in the event a strike is
called:

Theatrical films
Television and radio programs
Interactive programs
Sound recordings and music videos
News, industrial/educational and non-broadcast

If we have the threat of a potential strike hovering over the bargaining
table, we'll be able to walk away from that table with a far better
contract than is currently in place, and will probably not ever have to
strike as a result. Without the authorization however, the advertisers
will see no clear threat.

If you have any questions about what's going on, please write me back or
go visit the SAG web site @:

or @ AFTRA

Vote YES on the strike authorization!
Thanks for your time,
