Re: RAT terminologically hip, but

Lalli,

You should live where you want to live. There are plenty of people on this
list in NY and LA doing theatre. But there are also plenty of people on
this list making theatre in plenty of other cities.

If you believe the theatre you are doing is worthwhile, do it wherever you
are. People in NY and LA aren't the only ones who want to see new,
experimental, big, cheap theatre.

If you love South Carolina and want to stay, stay and build your own group
of RATs. If you want to go to NY or LA or whatever big city you choose and
try that life out for a while, go and do that. I personally tried the NY
thing for a while, changed my mind and ran like hell to Seattle. That has
made all the difference for me, I don't regret a day.

Now i'm in Tallahassee, Florida. The worst cultural wasteland I have ever
experienced. But there are outposts of RATtiness even here, however small
and scattered they may be. And I truly believe the city of Tallahassee is
a better, less scary South Georgia kind of place for their existence.

Someone else recently wrote about the disintegration of Broadway or LA, but
I can't remember and I'm a quick deleter. RATty stuff happens all over the
US and the world. Go where you think you'll be happy and that's where
you'll do your best work.

Good luck,
Cara Rosson
