Re: RAT Christians and Comedy

Yikes! I gotta ring in with Donna; maybe not everything she said (I,
personally, have only met the more rabid right-wingers, including my own
father, whom I love), but the jist of it. I come from a long line of
lefty-liberals on my mother's side, and whether they still go to church or
not, they learned their politics there. Granted, I'm talking Episcopalians,
but still, when I see "fuck the christians," bait-and-switch or no, it deeply
troubles me. Yes, absolute murder and mayhem has been committed in the name
of the church, but love and generosity and, yes, protests, actions, etc. have
been as well (see civil rights movement, for one). I'm terribly disturbed by
any harm certain factions of Christians cause to gays or women or people of
color or anyone, but, truly, that is not the Christianity I was raised in, or
practice.

By the way, the play that we're doing right now deals with some of these very
issues (see recent Shameless Plug post).
