The Super Bowl began as a great big corporate package, no doubt. But it's
become bigger and weirder than that. It's a national holiday. And now people
talk about the commercials (rate them, even!) more than they do the actual
game. And the halftime show is always some big cheeseball event that has to be
seen to be believed. And that qualifies it as something worth talking about in
ANY arena.

At the newspaper where I work, I always write and publish Super Bowl Haikus.
The first line is the title.

We've all gone sports mad
Arena football
Lumberjacks on the Deuce
Skate punks with sitcoms

Underdogs
No Dallas Cowboys
San Fran or Denver Broncos
Could be a good game

What my wife enjoys more than the Super Bowl
Dentist's waiting room
Fingernails on the chalkboard
Wet dogs on the couch

Kurt Warner paid his dues
Sacked groceries
Played arena football
Now NFL king

Super Bowl hero
Endurance, courage
Strength, tenacity and speed.
Last slice of pizza? Mine!
