This reminds me of an idea for a  version of THREE SISTERS cookedd up by Jeffries and myself several years ago.  It had to do with all the characters wearing Mickey Mouse hats.  You know, I don't remember why we thought this would be such a good idea, except I knew that if I were watching THREE SISTERS, and if Masha turned around and I could see the name "Masha" stitched on the back of the hat in cheap yellow thread, that I would just start weeping.

We also conceived  a staging of GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS where all the characters wore boringly realistic costumes, except for the enormouss baby bonnets.

It was  all part of a concept that we called the Hat Work, but I can't remember much about it now, except the idea of Checkov's characters working under the crushing additional weight of MIckey Mouse hats.
