Actually, the destruction of text bit was done better already by Joe Orton.  
Orton checked a number of books out of the library and defaced them 
creatively -- adding assorted lewd jokes and much wordplay.  He was arrested 
for this act.  I think, in fact, he may have ended up spending some time in 
jail.

I was thinking of this when I saw some of the books he defaced on display a 
number of years ago at the National Theatre.  What was a criminal prank is 
now a cultural artifact.  I was thinking of breaking into the display and 
restoring their books to their original condition.  And then maybe I would 
have been liable for a charge of criminal mischief.
